New Heaven 06:51
I have a deadly plan / to tell my friends just who I am / and Nanny's dyin' / rainbows and love this weekend / my partner wants to move to the new heaven / let me split my headphones / like firmament and earth / God's cruel joke / if Mother calls me cryin' / I guess Gaia wasn't listening' / my partner wants to move to the new heaven / and the light of God is tired now / pretend you understand / you're just a used car salesman / holy-rollin' / I'm not peculiar I'm just nothin' / my friends are thirsty for salvation / I took the keys man I shouldn't have been drivin' / I was on your heart and you called me around seven / nothin' you ask ever sounds like a question / would you bless the funeral reception / my partner wants to move to the new heaven / and the light of God is tired now / restive like a man / they could pierce my side and give a damn / they are the greatness that I am / they're the milk and honey in a dry land / meditation / communication / parables of love and acceptance / all of my friends don't want to listen / and Nanny's dyin' / this was supposed to be my weekend / I was born with the truth I been seekin' / try to wake me but man I ain't sleepin' / does my smile present me as somethin' / my partner wants to move to the new heaven / and the light of God is tired now

ride the skyway with me / quote less Charles Bukowski / new friends could be what they seem / flyin' cars to Gwen and June's / you have plenty things to lose / plenty pictures hangin' in your room / all the ones who swore they'd protect you / flyin' cars to Gwen and June's / ride the skyway with me / thrift a new pair of jeans / stretch yourself stretch out across my seat / flyin' cars to Gwen and June's / stoic in the sky / I'll help you try / you ain't born to die / I'll help you try / cars can fly / in the future they don't drink whiskey / they love you and protect your biggest dream / new friends could be what they seem / flyin' cars to Gwen and June's

I want to slam through the ceiling / rescue all of your feelings / promise you a second coming / deliver you from the magnificent nothing / and you are glorious / and I will prepare us / a nurturous palace / you gifted me your plastic Jesus / my sight it is decaying / is it an apple or tomato at least I'm cooking / you know it's more than your pocket I'm saving / what would your dad say about all this fine dining / Hell hath a kitchen and Dante is serving / and he feeds off your brain for higher learning / he'll just complain you're too rare and disgusting / but he's perverted the book that he keeps writing / and you are glorious / and I will prepare us / a nurturous palace / you gifted me your plastic Jesus / strip your walls / leave the hole in the roof / let the next see it as proof / see the zip-ties cut loose / holding hands with the man in the moon / all of the plans you've been making / will somehow anoint you with something / help you forgive human beings / deliver you from the magnificent nothing / and you are glorious

about

There is a biblical prophecy that after the apocalypse God will create a new heaven and a new earth. Whether you believe that literally isn't the point here. But I think we create new heavens and new earths all the time if we're living life the right way. Change is healthy. Change is scary. Change comes with a sort of apocalypse. These few songs were written in the midst of a personal apocalypse. Chaos can be mundane. We can experience it every day and not realize what it is. Some people think the "endtimes" are on the way. I feel like I experience endtimes yearly, at the very least. Transitioning from one friend group to the next is an apocalyptic event. Transitioning into your true sexual identity is an apocalyptic event. Transitioning out of familial abuse is an apocalyptic event. The revelation is that you are glorious, and living that truth is the New Heaven.
